Dr. Sandeep Purao is a Trustee Professor in the Information and Process Management Group at Bentley University and Associate Director of the Hoffman Center for Business Ethics at Bentley University. He is also a Visiting Professor at Agder University in Norway. Before joining Bentley, he served on the faculty at the College of Information Sciences and Technology, Penn State University, and the faculty at the College of Business, Georgia State University.
His current research focuses on designing, evolving, and managing digital solutions for organizational and societal problems with a blend of research methods and approaches from software engineering and social sciences. This work has resulted in 100+ publications, including elite journals in several areas such as Management Information Systems, Social Computing, Big Data, Medical Informatics, and others, as well as scholarly conferences in design science, computer science, and service science. The National Science Foundation, Industry Consortia, private Foundations, and private Corporations have also funded his work. Over the years, he has secured more than USD ~3 million in external funding. He has served on the Editorial Boards for elite journals, chaired scholarly conferences, and served on funding agency panels. He has consulted with financial institutions and software houses.
He holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. Before his academic career and graduate work, he was a practicing Chartered Accountant in Mumbai, India. He also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Bombay.
