Dr. Rabieh Hafza's Experience
Dr. Rabieh Hafza is a distinguished STEM Coordinator in Henry County Schools, a well-known metro Atlanta school district. With over 23 years of experience in public education, Dr. Hafza has held various positions, including coordinator of science, advanced placement coordinator, Science Content Specialist, and teacher of Advanced Placement science, biology, physics, chemistry, pre-AP Biochemistry, and physical science.
Before joining Henry County Schools, Dr. Hafza served as the Secondary Science Coordinator for Atlanta Public Schools for six years. He successfully implemented numerous initiatives to enhance science education in the district.
In addition to his work in K-12 education, Dr. Hafza has also served as an adjunct professor at Mercer University’s Tift College of Education, where he shared his vast knowledge and expertise with aspiring educators.
Dr. Hafza is passionate about improving instruction through professional learning and has worked to build capacity in teachers and leaders in districts nationwide. He has written curricula for multiple school districts in several states. In addition, he has served as a content reviewer, editor, and writer for various organizations, including the Captain Planet Foundation, Triumph Learning, Mastery Education, Georgia Department of Education, and Educational Epiphany.
Dr. Hafza holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Mercer University. His dissertation focused on the identity, interest, and motivation of underrepresented student groups in physics and other STEM-related subjects.
Currently, Dr. Hafza’s research interests revolve around STEM education in elementary students, creating pipelines for secondary and post-secondary options in STEM-related majors and careers. He is particularly interested in leveraging elementary robotics, engineering, transdisciplinary instruction, and the vertical articulation of content standards and skills. Additionally, as a consultant, Dr. Hafza provides writing, editing, and professional learning services to build capacity and enhance STEM education in schools and districts nationwide.
